Service Team Members 09-10

Sarah Ginn was born and raised in Narberth, Pennsylvania, two miles outside of the city of Philadelphia. She is the oldest of three girls. She graduated from the University of Pittsburgh this past spring where she majored in English and History. In her free time she works in her ceramics studio, most often on the potters wheel, and enjoys using her newly acquired kiln. She also has acquired a vast knowledge of cheese over the years from working in a Cheese Shop. She also very much enjoys cooking, knitting, running, and rock-climbing, and the rosary. Her favorite book and movie is Little Women. She is currently working her way through Imitation of Christ. Flashcards and tea are necessary items that she cannot live without. She is very excited to live in Seattle area this coming year and feels blessed with the chance offer a year of service for the archdiocese.

Heather Harris comes to us having graduated from the University of Washington in June 2009. While at the UW she was highly involved with the Catholic Newman Center and was a Peer Minister. However, Heather is not from Washington originally; she is what she affectionately calls a "military brat" and has lived in 7 states and 3 countries overseas. She is joining us as a member of the Retreat and Campus Ministry teams. On a completely different subject, her four years in Seattle have turned her into a true Seattle-ite...also known as a coffee addict.

Sarah Naser was born and raised in Iowa. She graduated from the University of Iowa in the summer of 2008 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geoscience. After graduation she moved to Estes Park, CO and worked as an environmental education instructor for the YMCA of the Rockies. She moved to the Pacific Northwest in February 2009 and was an environmental education instructor for Camp Colman of the Greater Seattle YMCA. Since moving to Washington Sarah has fulfilled numerous life goals, including digging a geoduck, camping in Banff National Park, sea kayaking and visiting Oregon. As an Environmental Education/Outdoor Ministry intern she is most excited to have the opportunity to in integrate her strong Catholic faith and passion for the environment. When she is not working, Sarah enjoys being outdoors but also hopes to pick up knitting as a hobby for the more rainy days.

John Michael Reyes grew up in San Francisco, CA. He studied Religious Studies, Anthropology and Catholic Studies at Santa Clara University, and even spent a profoundly formative semester Spring 2008 studying in Rome through Loyola University Chicago. Throughout his college experience, John Michael spent his time participating in numerous activities including Student Government, leading service trips to New Orleans and Tijuana, Mexico, facilitating Campus Ministry retreats and leading numerous reflection sessions for students participating in community-based learning experiences. He also served as the University Liturgy Coordinator and Assistant Director of Liturgy & Music. John Michael really digs reading, his mom’s Filipino cooking, hammocks, and enacting social change through the medium of laughter and good times. After his time with the Archdiocese of Seattle, John Michael plans to pursue graduate studies in liturgy. With college now behind him, John Michael feels blessed to be a part of the local church of Seattle, and hopes that his time with the Service Team, many can experience a widening of their imagination, spirit and prayer.
