Changes for 2010-2011 Year

The office for Youth and Young Adult Ministry is in the process of adding additional service opportunities for young adults. We are now offering parish placements as part of the Young Adult Service Team.

As part of this, teams will be sent to rural or under-resourced parishes and parish clusters to work in youth ministry through.

This is just one of six ministry areas a person can work in through the Young Adult Service Team.

Check back in a few weeks for updated ministry descriptions and the 2010-2011 application.

If you know a young adult ages 21-29 who is interested in serving in youth and young adults in ministry encourage them to consider the Young Adult Service Team.

Join us in welcoming the new Young Adult Service Team

The Office for Youth and Young Adult Ministry is pleased to welcome four new members of the Young Adult Service Team beginning August 1st.

Heather will be working part time in Retreat Ministry and part time in Campus Ministry. She is joining us after finishing a year as a peer minister at the University of Washington.

John Michael is joining us from California. He will be working principle in Retreat Ministry and assisting part time in Campus Ministry

Sarah G. will also be serving primarily in Retreat Ministry. She joins us from Pennsylvania where she recently graduated from University of Pittsburg.

Sarah N. will become our fist ever Service Team member assigned to Outdoor Ministries. She has spent the first part of the summer assisting at Camp Don Bosco after working in a local Environmental Education Program for the past year.

Summer Training Program now open to all youth ministers

Join the Young Adult Service Team in a summer training and orientation program for leaders within the Youth and Young Adult Ministry community. This program is open to anyone serving as a Lay Ecclesial Minister within an Archdiocesan parish, school or faith community. A special invitation is extended to those new to ministry or to the Archdiocese. Paid and volunteer leadership are welcome to join us for these eight days of ministry training.

Led by OYYAM staff, youth ministers and other ministry professionals working in the Archdiocese, this program helps youth and young adult ministry leaders:

· Gain a greater understanding of ministry within the local church;
· Develop effective skills for ministry to youth and young adults;
· Acquire a theological and pastoral framework for Catholic ministry to youth and young adults.

Service Team ends 2008-2009 Service Year

It is now into July so the Young Adult Service Team has officially left and we are starting to set up and get ready for the 2009-2010 Service Team. We thank Scott for his work with CYO athletics and welcome him back in August as he completes his Master’s Degree at Seattle University. Bridget concluded her second year of service in Retreat Ministry with Ascend on July 3rd and began her new role as the Associate Director of Retreat Ministry and CYO Camp Guest Services this morning.
We are happy to have both team members with us in the Fall as well as our new team of even more people working in even more areas.

Retreat Ministry - Become a Young Adult Service Team Member!

We want you!
Are you a practicing Catholic in good standing with the Church who is a young adult between the ages of 21-29 looking for a year-long service internship in Retreat Ministry? The Archdiocese of Seattle is currently accepting applications for this ministry area of our Young Adult Service Team!

Have you had a great retreat experiences as a youth or young adult? Are you creative about sharing spirituality with youth and young adults? As a member of the Impact Retreat Team, you will have the opportunity to promote, plan and lead retreats for parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Seattle. Youth and Young Adult retreat offerings may include Confirmation, Marriage Preparation, Preparing for High School, Young Adult Lenten Retreat, Relationship Retreat, Search and many more!

Team members live in community and work in a variety of internships within the Office for Youth and Young Adult Ministry. Interns will be provided opportunities to work in all aspects of ministry for youth and young adults, in this case, specifically in Retreat Ministry. Team members receive lodging, food, monthly stipend, and health insurance stipend in addition to training and formation. This opportunity provides hands-on ministry experience in a supportive environment.

New Service Team Members

We are happy to announce that two of the spots on the Young Adult Service Team are now filled and for the first time one of the team members will be working in Environmental Education and Outdoor Ministry.

We are excited for the entire team to be in place and start moving their year of service.
